In Financial Year 2019/2020, the Directorate managed 11,100 (903 females, 10,197 males) sentenced to community service orders representing 60.6% of total convictions in the country, an achievement that shows the usefulness of community service indecongestion of prisons.
In addition to the above reported Community Service Orders, the Directorate increased physical presence from 18 districts/courts to 41 following the recruitment of 23 new officers thereby enhancing visibility and service delivery.
Amidst the challenges of Covid-19 pandemic, the Directorate conducted various
trainings for stakeholders. i.e. Probation & Social Welfare Officers (PSWOs) and Community Development Officers (CDOs), Refugee Leaders, Placement Supervisors and Police. The Directorate continued to foster greater synergies across the JLOS institutions and other Non-Government Organizations.
